An elite fighting unit, the Golani Brigade, has played a major fighting role in Israel's wars. Whenever there is combat, its soldiers are rushed to the front. The Brigade is named after the Golan where it was stationed at its founding. Its emblem, a green olive tree, recalls the pretty olive trees that frequent that area.
