The Golani Brigade, named after the northern Golan area where it was first stationed, is one of Zahal's elite fighting forces. Its soldiers excel themselves in combat and they have been active in all Israel's wars and military conflicts. Its emblem of a green olive tree is symbolic - the olive tree's strong roots penetrate deep into the ground.
